SAL BIONDO RACKS UP ANOTHER WIN IN COMP ELIMINATOR AT VMP

            PETERSBURG, Va. - NHRA Northeast division Lucas Oil Drag Racing
Series competitors put the final rounds in the books of the North vs. South
Full Throttle Shootout event presented by VP Fuels and Hillwood Sales at
Virginia Motorsports Park.  The event was the third of six on the division
calendar.

Sal Biondo scored the win in Comp Eliminator.  It was the third final-round
appearance in as many races for the Maspeth, N.Y., resident.  He opened the
season with a win at Maple Grove Raceway in Reading, Pa., and was runner-up
at the division's last event, at Lebanon Valley Dragway in West Lebanon,
N.Y.  This weekend he beat Al Ackerman, Saddle Brook, N.J., in the final.

Byron Worner, Duncannon, Pa. took the win in Super Stock, driving his '96
Camaro to the winner's circle over Kent Hanley, Newtown, Conn., and his '94
Cavalier.

In Stock Eliminator, defending Southeast division champion Mickey Whaley,
Kinston, N.C., earned the win behind the wheel of his '67 Camaro.  Whaley
beat Billy Pires, Dighton, Mass., in the final round. 

Harrisburg, N.C., racer Steve Furr won in Super Comp, beating out Mike
Robilotto, Albany, N.Y.  Robilotto was also  runner-up at the division's
season opener at Maple Grove Raceway.

Jeff Szilagyi, Hellertown, Pa., picked up the win in Super Gas, beating out
Iggie Boicesco of Holland,

Pa., in the final.

            The Super Street final went to Michael Ruff of Orlando, Fla.  He
drove his '92 Camaro to the win over Vinnie Cicerale, Piscataway, N.J., and
his '87 Thunderbird.

            Ronnie Proctor, Harpers Ferry, N.Y., wheeled his '02 Mustang to
victory in Top Sportsman, beating out Michele Simonoko of Westbrook, Maine,
and her '63 Corvette. 

In eliminations on Saturday, Dan Mercier, Valley Field, Que., scored a win
in Top Alcohol Dragster and Bob Tasca III, Cranston, R.I., won in Top
Alcohol Funny Car.

            NHRA Northeast division racers will head to Rising Sun, Md., for
the next NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event, August 25-27.  Cecil
County Dragway will host the three-day meet as racers kick off the second
half of their season.
