ELIMINATIONS BEGIN AT EASTERN CONFERENCE FINALS
 
                BRISTOL, Tenn. - The first round of eliminations got
underway today at the NHRA O'Reilly Auto Parts Jr. Drag Racing League
Eastern Conference Finals presented by Pure Power.  After preparing all
week and making one last time trial this morning, racers started their
quest to become an NHRA 2006 Eastern Conference Champion.
                In the 10 year-old category, 2005 champion, Zachary
Eyring of Glen Burnie, Md., was eliminated by Nick Michal of Georgetown,
Ind.  Local Racers, Dylan Davis of Kingsport, Tenn., and Jared Mckinney
of Elizabethton, Tenn., moved on to the 2nd Round in the 11 year-old
category.
                Among other racers that took the track today in the
opening round were past champions, Kelsey Lynn of Marietta, Ga., William
Butterworth of Goodlettsville, Tenn., George Farkouh of Brooklyn, N.Y.,
Michael Bloomfield of Fairfield, Ohio, Eric Peterka of Gilbertsville,
Pa., and Jake Sealey of Aiken, S.C.
                Today's events included the annual Bristol Dragway
cookout, that all racers and their families are invited to participate
in.  Hamburgers, hot dogs, and drinks were given out while racers had a
chance to socialize and exchange stories about the week's events.
                Racing continues on Saturday starting at 10 a.m.  Prior
to racing, special awards for Best Appearing Car, Best Appearing Crew,
Best Engineered Car, Best Reaction Time, and Closest to Dial, will be
announced.
.               Gates open at 8 a.m. on Saturday.  General admission
tickets are $15 and children 6 and under are admitted free.  Bristol
Dragway is located in Bristol, Tenn., at exit 69 off Interstate 81.  For
