Modine and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Co-Sponsor Seminar to Reduce Waste
RACINE, Wis.--July 14, 2006--Modine Manufacturing Company , a world leader in developing heating and cooling solutions for the agriculture, automotive, truck, electronics cooling, heavy-duty and industrial markets, announced today that it has co-sponsored a special waste minimization seminar with the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for Region 5, which includes Wisconsin, Illinois, Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, and Minnesota.Fifty people attended the seminar, titled "Waste Minimization for the 21st Century: A Dialogue with Great Lakes Business and Industry," at Modine's corporate headquarters in Racine on July 14, 2006. "We were happy to work with the EPA to host the dialog with companies from around the Midwest. It's a chance to share success stories, and best practices with our neighboring industries," said Tom Meitner, Modine's Manager Environmental Engineering.
Meitner received a plaque of recognition from the U.S. EPA for Modine's voluntary participation in an EPA program aimed at reducing the use of 31 priority chemicals. One hundred facilities nationwide are participating in the U.S. EPA's National Partnership for Environmental Priorities (NPEP) program. Modine has four locations: Pemberville, Ohio; Jackson, Mississippi; Jefferson City, Missouri; and Harrodsburg, Kentucky that target the elimination of several priority chemicals used in their manufacturing processes.
