Puradyn Filter Technologies Receives Purchase Order From Colombian Distributor for 274 puraDYN(R) Bypass Oil Filtration Systems; puraDYN Systems to be Installed on Voith Bus Transmissions Over Next Several Months
BOYNTON BEACH, Fla.--July 14, 2006--Puradyn Filter Technologies Incorporated (OTCBB:PFTI) today announced that Puradyn's distributor in Colombia, Arbel Trading Company LTDA ('Arbel'), has received a purchase order for 274 puraDYN bypass oil filtration systems from Grupo SI, a major Colombian bus company in Bogota, for the puraDYN system to be installed on articulated buses using Voith transmissions. The first 36 puraDYN systems have already been delivered against the initial purchase order of 274 units. This shipment is in addition to 70 systems to be installed as part of a joint evaluation between Grupo SI and Voith Transmissions and 168 systems to be installed on bus transmissions for Bus Fleet SI99 (Bogota).Arbel has reported that Grupo SI has been using the puraDYN bypass oil filtration system since 2001 on 362 bus engines and has safely extended oil drains from 10,000 km to an average 150,000 km. One selected test bus traveled 316,000 km without an oil change. Inspection of internal engine parts showed minimum wear and verified the extended life of the equipment.
Arbel is actively involved with the Colombian bus consortium, Bus Rapid Transit System of Articulated Buses, of which Grupo SI is a member, working with TransMilenio in Bogota. TransMilenio is a successful public transportation association in Colombia created by private contractors under the supervision of the government. The consortium was developed to implement an economic transportation system with a sustainable environmental program and is partly financed by the national government and shareholders of the transport sector. TransMilenio currently operates 470 Volvo and Mercedes Benz articulated buses and 300 standard buses and is viewed as a successful business model for international transporters.
Dr. Victor Raul Martinez Palacio, Manager, Grupo SI, stated, "We have been using the puraDYN bypass filtration system on our buses since 2001 with great success and recommended the system to Voith Turbo for evaluation in its bus transmissions. Based upon the success of keeping transmission oil clean in this most recent evaluation, Voith Turbo authorized moving ahead with expanding the evaluation and installing the puraDYN system on an additional 274 transmissions. We are confident that when the current test is finished, and again shows positive results, the puraDYN system could be installed on thousands of buses throughout Colombia."
Martinez concluded, "Whereas rationalization of the costs is an important consideration in the operation of our fleet, the key benefit in using the puraDYN system is represented in an 83% reduction of new oil purchases and subsequent reduction in the disposition of used oil, a hazardous waste material. This is a valuable advantage and in keeping with our objective of providing a more efficient transport system with lesser costs and greater environmental benefits."
Richard C. Ford, CEO, Puradyn, said, "We believe the success of the initial evaluation with Voith, leading to the expansion of the test arena, marks a major breakthrough in the South American market where thousands of Mercedes and Volvo buses are used for public transportation. The consortium in Colombia is determined to provide an environmentally sustainable and economic mass transport system and we are committed to assist them by safely extending oil drains for engines and transmissions, significantly reducing the costs associated with oil purchases and maintenance."
