Ford to Present Escape Hybrid Technology Clinic to the City of Las Vegas

WHAT: Cities across the country are turning to hybrid-electric vehicles to meet their clean air goals and reduce fuel costs -- from taxicabs to municipal vehicles. As an example, the City of Las Vegas recently added 30 Escape Hybrids to its municipal fleet. In addition, Clark County currently has 13 Escape Hybrids with 19 more on order for their municipal fleet.

Ford Motor Company hybrid engineers will conduct a technology clinic with officials from the City of Las Vegas and Clark County, as well taxi industry representatives and consumers to answer technical questions, as well as conduct consumer clinics at Las Vegas area Ford dealerships in an effort to raise awareness for the benefits of hybrid technology.

SUMMARY: The consumer and municipal benefits of the Escape Hybrid are illustrated by the successful application of vehicles in municipal fleets, such as the City of Las Vegas fleet, or taxis in New York and San Francisco. The Escape Hybrid offers uncompromised cargo and passenger volume, plus an 80 percent improvement in city fuel economy and ultra-clean AT-PZEV emissions. It has also proven very reliable and efficient, with cabs in San Francisco accumulating more than 125,000 miles of severe use with few mechanical problems, and taxi drivers saving up to $30 per shift on fuel.

Each of the Las Vegas area Ford dealerships will host consumer clinics for Escape Hybrid owners, offering customers a rare chance to meet with the Ford engineers to learn more about this important new technology.
