KASEMETS WANTS MORE TIME BEHIND THE WHEEL AS ROCKETSPORTS GOES TESTING IN BETWEEN RACE WEEKENDS

EAST LANSING, Michigan (July 13, 2006) – Rocketsports Racing and driver Tonis Kasemets decided that more time behind the wheel is critical to the future success of the #18 Flexovit Abrasives/Rocketsports Ford-Cosworth/Lola/Bridgestone Champ Car so they are heading to Joliet, Illinois today for a one-day test before heading off to Round Eight of the Bridgestone Presents The Champ Car World Series Powered by Ford season in Edmonton.

The Autobahn Country Club Joliet offers a 3.56-mile permanent road course and is one of the nation’s largest race courses. That is the full course, but the course can be divided into two separate courses. The South Course will be the testing course of the day for Rocketsports which offers a 2.1-mile track that is 40 feet wide with 15 turns. The Joliet course is fairly new, as it opened up in spring of 2005 and this will be the team’s first trip to the new venue in Illinois.

Kasemets made his Champ Car debut about a month ago in Portland, Oregon with Rocketsports and has three Champ Car starts under his belt. He only had one day to test with the team, so this time will allow him to get a little more comfortable with the car in a non-race weekend environment, which is anticipated to help his runs in the future races that he will be competing in this season with the team.

“I am looking forward to this test with Rocketsports Racing,” said the Estonian driver. “Hopefully we will be able to improve on my driving of the #18 Flexovit Abrasives/Rocketsports car so that we can be faster for our upcoming races. It is a completely different mental experience driving a Champ Car. The horsepower of these race cars is so overwhelming and exciting, so I could use some extra time behind the wheel and just drive the car, with nothing else to worry about. That is something that I need to work on, and the team is doing a great job helping me out with that.”

The team will return to the East Lansing-based race shop from the test tonight. They will have a little time to recuperate before heading back north of the border to Canada for the next race in Edmonton, Alberta. The West Edmonton Mall Grand Prix Presented by The Brick will be held during the weekend of July 21-23.
