Magic Mile Awaits Tim Sauter
Magic Mile Awaits Tim Sauter
McGill Motorsports Team Hopes to Repeat Past Performance at New
Hampshire
New Hampshire Intl Speedway will always be a special track for McGill
Motorsports. The upstart team scored their first ever top-ten finish
last year in the New England 200. This year the team has high hopes
heading back to the Loudon track with driver Tim Sauter. In three
previous starts at the one-mile speedway Sauter has averaged a
fifteenth place finish.
The combination of team and driver feel the time is right for a
strong finish this year at the Busch Series northernmost track. “I
think New Hampshire could be a turning point for this team. I have
always had good success at the flat short tracks, Milwaukee, Phoenix,
Gateway and Memphis. I guess they’re a lot like some of the short
tracks I grew up on,” explained Sauter. “Couple that with the success
this team had here last year, the time is right for us to give Lester
Buildings a strong finish.”
The team is bringing the same chassis that last ran at Milwaukee last
month, an ill-timed caution relegated the Lester Buildings Chevy to
27th in that event, but Tim was running top-15 lap times for most of
the event. “I think the guys in the shop did a nice job on this car.
It will be the second time out for this chassis and each time we have
brought a car back this year we have improved the handling, so I
think we will have a competitive car this weekend,” Sauter said.
There are 41 entries for the New England 200 this weekend; fourteen
drivers are entered in both the Busch Series race on Saturday and the
Nextel Cup race on Sunday. This will be the second time this year
that there has not been a full field of 43 cars pre-entered for a
Busch Series race.
The green flag will drop at 3:00 ET for the New England 200 on
Saturday, July 15th and will be televised live on TNT.
• This will be Tim’s 103rd start in the NBS and 108th career NASCAR
start.
• All three Sauter brothers will attempt to make the Durock 300.
• Tim is currently 24th in the NBS driver point standings.
• This will be the fourth time Tim Sauter has competed at New
Hampshire in the NBS, best finish: May 2002 – Busch 200 - Finished
12th, started 15th.
Tim’s thoughts on the New Hampshire Intl Speedway: “I think the Magic
Mile is just what we need to give the Lester Buildings team some
confidence and get us headed in a positive direction.”
• This will be the second time McGill Motorsports has competed at New
Hampshire in the NBS, best finish: July 2005 – New Hampshire 200 -
Driver; Stanton Barrett - Finished 10th, started 25th.
