NASCAR Dodge Weekly Racing Series

During the pre-race events, Langley Speedway presented a “Lifetime
Achievement Award” to Danny Edwards, Sr. Danny, Sr. is the founder of
Edwards Motorsports and has supported his two sons in racing for over 25
years.

During Time Trials, Greg Edwards qualified on the pole and Danny Edwards
qualified second. After the wheel spin of six, Greg was pushed back from
his original qualifying spot to sixth and Danny to fifth for the start in
tonight’s Crossroads Fuels 75 Lap Race.

With 21-cars for the start, the Late Model Driver’s were ready to go! On
the start, Greg was on the outside of his brother Danny and quickly ducked
in behind him. They moved into turn 2 with the 21 car of Anthony Warren
just on the outside. By the second lap, the No. 21 car ducked in behind
Greg putting Danny in fourth and Greg in fifth.

On lap 31, the No. 29 of Casey Wyatt went under the No. 34 of Paul DeBolt in
turn 4. Three laps later and the Edwards brothers stayed nose-to-tail as
they ducked under the 34 to take the 3rd and 4th spots. Danny and Greg
made their way behind Casey Wyatt who was running 2nd but no one could catch
up to Mark Wertz in the lead.

It wasn’t until lap 43 that they caught up to Wertz and the four cars spaced
themselves apart by what seemed two car-lengths between each of them. The
rest of the field was running more than half a straight-a-way behind. The
four out front paced themselves until lap 62 when Greg tried to make a run
under his brother on the front stretch. Just as Greg put his 27 nose under
the 26, the spotter called over the radio, “stay high and back it down,
caution out and car down coming out of turn 1”.

On the restart, Danny was still running third and Greg in fourth. Danny
edged his way to Casey Wyatt as Greg edged his way to his brother. On the
last lap, Greg would make his last attempt to get ahead of his brother. As
they came out of turn four, Greg made his way under Danny. Danny crossed
the finish line with his brother’s Dodge Charger’s nose just barely to the
door.

Danny finished 3rd and Greg came in 4th for tonight’s race. The Dodge’s
still dominate the track point’s lead but swap places on the board this
week. Mark Wertz takes the lead this week by two points over Danny and
Danny is two points over Greg. The (official) track points are as follows:
Mark Wertz (500), Danny Edwards (498) and Greg Edwards (496).

Congratulate Mark Wertz on his win!
