Porsche Owners Take Early Lead in Membership Drive at Alpine Motorsports Club

SAYLORSBURG, Pa., July 11 -- Porsche has jumped into the lead as the motorcar of choice for over 50 percent of the new members who have joined Alpine Motorsports Club, the members-only club for driving enthusiasts scheduled for construction next year in Saylorsburg in the Poconos of Eastern Pennsylvania.

Kimberly Carrodo-Bowers, Director of Sales for the $26-million, 4.2-mile Alan Wilson-designed mountain road course, said Porsche has taken a more than three-to-one lead over second place Ferrari with about half of the 500 limited memberships sold.

"It now looks like Alpine's European-inspired road course will be dominated by Porsche," Carrodo-Bowers said. "Porsche members tell me that they want to feel the excitement of pushing their cars and themselves to the maximum to experience the ultimate thrill of driving a high-performance automobile."

Porsche leads the field with 52.7 percent of the memberships, Ferrari is in second with 14.5 percent, and BMW is third with 10.9 percent. Others in the field include Mercedes-Benz, Viper, Corvette and Shelby Cobra.

"I know the Lotus, Lamborghini, Maserati, vintage car and other modified model owners are awaiting their turn to join the membership rolls. We've got a great competition going, and we haven't even opened the Club. Let's see what happens when the flag signals the Grand Opening of Alpine Motorsports Club in 2008," Carrodo-Bowers added.

The only private motorsports club on the East Coast where members can drive their car on their personal schedule, Alpine Motorsports Club will boast a road course and recreation complex on 360 acres in the shadows of the Blue Mountains in Monroe County, less than a two-hour drive from both New York City and Philadelphia.
