Belmont's Day Ends Early at Kentucky, Fans Win with Unique Crew Opportunity

LEXINGTON, KY - The WLWT Channel 5 150 at Kentucky Speedway ended on lap 33 for ARCA RE/MAX series veteran Andy Belmont, as a result of a persisting rear end issue that developed earlier in the day during practice.

"We identified the problem early in practice, thoroughly went through the drive train and didn't see anything out of the ordinary", stated Belmont. "We didn't notice any further problems in practice or in qualifying, so I thought we had the problem solved. Unfortunately, we didn't."

Belmont cracked the stellar field of over 50 competitors with a time of 31.75, securing 30th position on the starting grid. "Given the stiff competition from NEXTEL Cup teams and driver development programs, our time would have placed us much higher on the grid even a year ago - its getting to be a big deal to make the show at some of these speedway events", stated Belmont.
