MARTZ REGAINS FOCUS VICTORY LEAD AFTER KENTUCKY WIN
INDIANAPOLIS – Tate Martz once again has the title of Ford Focus Midget Car
Series king.
Martz, of Rushville, Ind., led all 25 laps Saturday in the Midwest Pavement
feature at Kentucky Speedway’s quarter-mile in Sparta, Ky., a race that
shared the weekend with the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series.
The victory was Martz’s 20th points-paying Focus feature victory of his
career, giving him the outright lead. USAC Carolina/Virginia two-time
defending series champion Chase Scott also has 20 feature wins, but one of
those was a non-point contest (Orlando, Fla., 2005)
Martz was never headed in the No. 1 Lucas Oil/Tony Stewart Racing Beast/Ford
Focus, extending his series point lead by beating second-place point driver
James Robertson, Mario Clouser, Casey Riggs and reigning National champ
Robbie Ray.
The next Midwest Pavement race is scheduled for July 28 at Kil-Kare Speedway
in Xenia, Ohio.
