Indianapolis, IN (July 9th, 2006) First there was the neck injury at the start of the season, then there was the crash the first night back and some luck that just did not want to turn around, but now for Team NOS Energy Drink with Mafia Motorsports and driver Jason Martin there is a light at the end of the tunnel. The team has been chasing a few little things here and there and with the holiday down time they took full advantage to fix those things. Martin who has split time between a 360 and 410 before being part of the Greatest Show on Dirt with the World of Outlaws this season had to learn some things when it came to the powerplant and set up. That education of this season is now showing up. In Friday nights event at the City of Lawrenceburg Nationals, Martin showed signs that he had indeed found the little things. After qualifying 24th, the team made changes and the Hitman took off in the hit. Hitting some ruts in the rough high banked ¼ mile caused some bicycling in turns 1-2 but Martin managed to power out of them and get headed straight in down the back stretch and finish 3rd. In the feature starting 23rd Martin was able to power through traffic to a 16th place finish. On the high banked ultra fast 1/3 mile of I-55 raceway in Pevely, the Hitman would overcome a mistake in qualifying and rally for a respectable 12th place finish in the feature on a rubber down track. He would start 7th in his heat and with in 2 laps was up to 4th and solidly in the transfer spot to the feature. It was evident the little things had been found and the light at the end of the tunnel is shinning bright. “Yeah we definitely are real happy with what we found.” Said Martin. “The motors are strong very strong and those little things out here may as well be huge things. It was my fault in qualifying at Pevely, I had the wing to far back, it was not the motors fault it was mine. In the heat we just took off ran high and passed at will. We were closing on the leaders in the last few laps and that really gave me confidence for the feature. We were fast but the rubber came down early and I knew there would be guys blowing tires and why not let them do that and come to me. When the 5B blew his tire and more followed we just rode and conserved our tires to the finish.
