Sunoco Ron Fellows Karting Championship makes history at Molson Grand Prix
of Toronto
16 karters take to the track for demonstration laps

TORONTO, ONTARIO – The Sunoco Ron Fellows Karting Championship presented by
Toronto Star Wheels made history on Friday afternoon, when the series put
17 drivers in their karts on the Molson Grand Prix of Toronto track at
Exhibition Place. It is the first time karts, and karters have been a part
of the Molson Grand Prix of Toronto weekend.

The karts – which are located in Thunder Alley – drew large crowds on
Friday, and will more than likely draw more fans when they take to the
track for the second demonstration laps on Sunday, right after the ChampCar
race. Sunoco, the headline sponsor of the Sunoco Ron Fellows Karting
Championship presented by Toronto Star Wheels has the series trailer in
Thunder alley, along with a huge display area.

The drivers ranged from Cadets to Seniors. Taking part were Darryl Timmers,
Pearce Herder, Lloyd Shearer and his son Zach Shearer, Anthony Furfari and
his brother Michael, Corey Luciano, Joshua Korenyi, Michael Adams, Philip
Wang, Jim Souch, Jesse Facchini, Dylan Gibson, Reid Arnold, Darren White,
Matt and Jason France.

The on track ‘show’ put on by the karters was an impressive display, as
they did a few laps during the Friday session. “These things really fly,”
said one interested spectator. He was last seen heading for the series
trailer looking for more information on karting and the SRFKC.

The objective of the SRFKC is to help foster a professional environment for
kart drivers; help create a positive attitude towards appearance, conduct
and discipline; help foster the employment of the best practices for the
safe and fair running of competitions; and help kart drivers to move up the
racing ladder to automobile racing.
