Nissan and WWF Bring 16 Student Leaders to the Nation's Capital to Study Global Environmental Issues; Students Honored at Inaugural Nissan-WWF Environmental Leadership Summit

GARDENA, Calif.--July 5, 2006--Nissan North America, Inc. (NNA) and World Wildlife Fund (WWF) presented 16 college juniors from across the nation with the first Nissan-WWF Environmental Leadership Awards during an educational summit held in Washington, D.C., June 24-28. In addition to the trip to the Nation's Capital, each student received $5,000 and an all-expenses-paid research expedition to South Africa in August.

During the summit, the students visited Capitol Hill, the World Bank and the Environmental Protection Agency, and participated in a series of environmental leadership workshops, presentations and a field trip to the Chesapeake Bay Foundation.

"We are honored to celebrate the outstanding achievements of these talented students and recognize that the future of the planet lies in their hands," said Harland Reid, senior director of government affairs, NNA.

The award is part of the Nissan-WWF Environmental Leadership Program, which aims to empower young leaders on U.S. college campuses to become effective advocates for the environment.
