CAMPBELL SCORES 40-LAP RMR FEATURE VICTORY

A 12-point gap is all that stands between defending champion Jimmy Wysong and former champion Jim Waters in the new USAC/SLVRA Young Automotive Group Rocky Mountain Sprint Car Series standings. The series resumes July 22 at Rocky Mountain Raceways in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Waters closed the margin to 12 with his fifth-place finish last Saturday night, while Wysong was the first driver to retire from the 40-lap race.

Jim Campbell, of Sandy, Utah, roared to victory in the main event, beating Dave Fitzgerald, Rick Pardee, Jeff Bergener and Waters. The win left Campbell sixth in the new points.

Fitzgerald's finish has him in third in the standings, threatening to make it a three-way title chase. He's only 36 behind Wysong and is tied with Wysong at 12 for the most USAC feature victories in Utah history.
