FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

BLOOMINGTON SPEEDWAY FEATURES SPRINTS, MODIFIEDS, & SUPER STOCKS

ON FRIDAY, JULY 7

BLOOMINGTON, IN (July 2, 2006) - July 7 will be the last opportunity for the sprint car racers to test out the red clay before the Indiana Sprint Week series makes its annual pilgrimage to Bloomington Speedway. USAC's Indiana Sprint Week has become so competitive that the teams will try almost anything to gain a small edge in this big event. With sixty or seventy or more cars showing up and with most of them being very competitive, a preview visit makes a lot of sense. This is even more true for the California teams that will be coming in to run sprint week.

Bob Gatten will be bringing his grandson, a USAC/CRA sprint car racer, back to run sprint week this year; and he has been at Bloomington Speedway twice this summer checking things out. All of this activity should guarantee that the pits will be filled to capacity on July 7.

By the time that July 7 arrives a good part of our season will be in the books. The drivers who have had good nights in the first dozen shows will be happily at the top of the points standings. However, they will not be deluded into thinking that they should be comfortable there. A position in the points standings can go bad with a bad outing; and the competitors know it. For that reason, they will race every Friday night as if it were the final race of the season. On the other hand, those competitors who have had a bad start to their season know that they can still recover if they do their job well.

The points leaders following June 30's racing are:

Sprint Cars: 1. Kent Christian, 2. Kevin Briscoe, 3. Jon Stanbrough, 4. Kenny Carmichael, Sr., 5. Josh Cunningham, 6. Jon Sciscoe, 7. Jared Fox (tie), Kenny Carmichael, Jr., 9. Steve Rone, 10. Bobby Stines

O'Neal Wood Products Modifieds: 1. Ryan Thomas, 2. Kent Robinson, 3. Jesse Cramer, 4. Jeff Bland, Jr., 5. John DeMoss, 6. Ray Humphrey, 7. Matt Boknecht, 8. Clint DeMoss, 9. Richie Lex, 10. Bradley Sterrett

Tire & Wheel Center Super Stocks: 1. Jeremy Hines, 2. Greg Kendall, 3. Kevin Arthur, 4. Greg Amick, 5. Joe Lucas, 6. Winston Howe, 7. Troy Clark, 8. Jack Frye, 9. Ben DuBois, 10. Steve Hollars

Bloomington Speedway will feature sprint cars, O'Neal Wood Products modifieds, and Tire and Wheel Center super stocks. All three classes typically show up in force every Friday night. The full pits that are a trademark of Bloomington Speedway insure a lot of racing. A typical program includes 12 heat races, 3 B features, and 3 features. At some tracks, a program like that could run to the wee hours of the morning. However, Mike Miles and his able staff do everything in their power to keep the program moving. And, the competitors know that when it's their time to race, they'd better be in the staging area and ready to go. Consequently, most are there when they need to be.

Pit gates will open at 4:30 PM, the grandstand gates will open at 5:30 PM, hot laps will start at 6:30 PM, and racing will begin at 7:30 PM. General admission is $10 for this event (children six and under are admitted free to the grandstand when accompanied by a paying adult; and children 7 - 12 are admitted for only $5 when accompanied by a paying adults.); and pit admission is $20. Coolers are permitted; but glass containers aren't. Overnight camping is also permitted.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

IT'S INDIANA SPRINT WEEK XIX!!!

JULY 14, 2006

CAN THE USAC REGULARS STANBROUGH, BRISCOE, AND GAINES?

(Bloomington, Ind. - July 2, 2006) Major sporting events are a lot like fine wine. It takes a while for them to mature. Indiana Sprint Week is set for its 19th running; and Bloomington Speedway has been an integral part of the series each year.

Bloomington Speedway's leg of Indiana Sprint Week will be run on July 14.

Because of the unusually careful track preparation at Bloomington, it is a favored stop for most of the series competitors. They know that, if they have done their job, they can win at Bloomington Speedway. A good heavy track will allow a well-prepared car to come from the back of the pack to victory.

Jon Stanbrough has three sprint car feature wins this season at Bloomington Speedway while Dickie Gaines has two; and Kevin Briscoe, Kent Christian, Josh Cunningham, Bryan Clauson, and Brady Short have one each. However, Indiana Sprint Week is sanctioned by USAC; and they can be depended upon to bring in literally dozens of racers capable of finding their way to victory lane. Leading the USAC points now are Josh Wise, Levi Jones, Mat Neely, Dave Darland, Bryan Clauson, Darren Hagen, Bud Kaeding, Jay Drake, Jerry Coons, Jr., and Brady Short. It is interesting to note that eight of these drivers have raced at Bloomington Speedway already this season. While the USAC regulars are talented, very well equipped racers, they can still be beaten by the guys who race at Bloomington Speedway every Friday night. Be here to see, first hand, who leaves with the cash in their jeans.

There is one thing that sprint week always means - full pits. Last year, a total of 57 sprinters qualified; and they were the best sprint cars in nation. In addition their will, no doubt, be plenty of Tire & Wheel Center Super Stocks on hand as they will be running for $600 to win with proper decals.

Grandstand admission for this special race is only $20 and pit admission is $25. As always at Bloomington Speedway, children 12 and under are admitted free with a paying adult. Coolers are permitted; but glass containers are strictly prohibited. Parking and overnight camping are both free. There are no advanced ticket sales or reserved seating. Pits gates will open at 4:30; and the grandstands will open at 5:30. Hot laps will begin at 6:30.
