Andretti Earns Top-10 Finish in NYSE Car at Kansas

KANSAS CITY, Kan. (July 2, 2006) - Marco Andretti drove the #26 NYSE car to a hard-earned
ninth-place finish Sunday at the Kansas Lottery Indy 300 at Kansas Speedway.
Andretti, starting the event from 11th place on the grid, dropped back a few positions at the onset
of the event but then began picking off places as he moved up through the field. Quick pit work by the
NYSE crew enabled Andretti to crack the top 10 on lap 37 and he moved into eighth place by lap 60. He
maintained a top-10 position until misfortune struck during a yellow-flag pit stop on lap 154. Running
ninth, the car stalled while attempting to leave the pit box. The crew quickly re-fired the engine but by the
time Andretti rejoined the field he had fallen one lap off the pace in 11th position. He managed to regain
two spots to bring the NYSE car home with a ninth-place finish.

Sam Hornish Jr. took the victory with Dan Wheldon second, Vitor Meira third, Scott Dixon fourth and Team 7-Eleven teammate Tony Kanaan rounding out the top five.

Through eight events of the 2006 season, Andretti stands 10th in the driver point standings with 172 points, but is just four points shy of the seventh spot on the list.

Next up for Andretti and the entire IndyCar Series will be the Firestone Indy 200 at Nashville Superspeedway on Saturday, July 15. The event will be televised live by ESPN, beginning at 9 p.m. (EDT). It can also be heard live by XM Satellite Radio subscribers by tuning into XM channel 145.

Marco Andretti, #26 NYSE Dallara/Honda/Firestone:

"Today was the best the NYSE car felt all weekend. The car was balanced, we just weren't fast enough. We really needed a couple more miles an hour to be able to race with those guys. I don't really know what happened on our last pit stop. After they dropped the car, I counted to at least 'five' or 'six' before they waived me out. They just kept holding me and holding me and holding me before I tried to leave."

Kyle Moyer, General Manager, Andretti Green Racing: "We finished better than we started so that is a real positive for Marco. The kid just keeps learning more and more. Today he learned about re-starts and where to be and where not to be, so that's good. At the same time, the NYSE team wants to be running up front with the leaders. During the last stop I think Marco was a little anxious to go and we were trying to get a full tank of fuel in and just stalled it. We expect to have a good result at Nashville. Marco had a good test there and he'll be ready to get back in the car."
