Kanaan, Team 7-Eleven Earn Fifth-Place Finish at Kansas

KANSAS CITY, Kan. (July 2, 2006) - Team 7-Eleven driver Tony Kanaan displayed his driving
skills in taking a well-deserved fifth-place finish in the #11 Team 7-Eleven car Sunday afternoon at the
Kansas Lottery Indy 300 at Kansas Speedway.
Starting from 13th position on the starting grid, Kanaan immediately passed six competitors on the
opening lap to move into seventh place, and then took another two spots by lap 10 to move into the top
five. He advanced into fourth when Helio Castroneves made contact on lap 40 and maintained that position
until dropping into the fifth spot just prior to another yellow-flag situation on lap 167.  A second caution
period on lap 176 saw the Team 7-Eleven crew gain Kanaan one spot through fast pit work and on the
ensuing restart, the 2004 IndyCar Series champion again put on a driving display taking the high line to
pass several lapped cars as well as move into third place in the running order.  Vitor Meira and Scott Dixon
managed to re-pass the Team 7-Eleven car in the closing laps to drop Kanaan to fifth place.
Sam Hornish Jr. took the victory with Dan Wheldon second, Meira third and Dixon fourth.
Through eight events this season, Kanaan stands sixth in the driver point standings with 206
points, 21 points shy of fifth spot.
Next up for Kanaan and the entire IndyCar Series will be the Firestone Indy 200 on Saturday, July
15, at Nashville Superspeedway. The event will be televised live by ESPN beginning at 9 p.m. (EDT). It can
also be heard live by XM Satellite Radio subscribers by tuning into XM channel 145.

Tony Kanaan, #11 Team 7-Eleven Dallara/Honda/Firestone:
"The Team 7-Eleven car was a good race car today but it wasn't quite fast enough. So I had to
make up for it with my start and restarts. Those were really the only opportunities I had to pass people, so I
had to take advantage of that and the car worked really well in those situations. It was kind of a crazy finish
but a top-five isn't bad, especially today."

Kim Green, President, Andretti Green Racing:
"Tony was just so good on his initial start and on the restarts. He passed so many cars and that's
what put us in a position to hang in there. We had great pit stops from the Team 7-Eleven guys, but we
were not fast enough on the racetrack and have some work to do there. It was really a very heads-up drive
by Tony to get the maximum out of that race car today. To be honest, ABC should just dedicate a camera
to Tony if he is starting anywhere back in the pack because he always puts on a great show."
