MASSEY, JONES PICK UP WINS IN RUSK

RUSK, Texas - Spencer Massey and Jimmy Jones both grabbed
wins at this weekend's rescheduled Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series at
Cherokee County Motorsports Park. The fifth event of seven in the NHRA
South Central Division was originally scheduled for June 16-18 but was
rescheduled when persistent rain halted action last month.

Massy, driving for veteran NHRA racer Gene Snow grabbed his
second Top Alcohol Dragster South Central Division win in a row knocking
off Lee Callaway with a run of 5.471 seconds at 263.00 mph to Callaway's
5.476, 262.74 mph. Massey won back in May at Red River Raceway over
Steve Torrence and has two runner-up finishes in the first two events of
the season.

Callaway took over the driving duties in the Tom Conway
owned and tuned dragster which won the NHRA Lucas Oil Series National
Championship last year with Steve Torrence of Kilgore, Texas, at the
wheel.

Jones of Cleburne, Texas, put his Top Alcohol Funny Car in
the winner's circle with a lap of 5.895 seconds at 243.63 mph beating
Ron Morrison of Oklahoma City, with a pass of 6.010 seconds, 238.55 mph.
Jones has a win and a runner-up finish this year beating Jackie Stidham
in Memphis back in March, while Stidham beat Jones in the final at Red
River.

Brian Self of Magnolia, Texas, captured the win in Comp
Eliminator over Louisiana racer Joey Tanksley and James Paul of Fort
Worth, Texas, won in his '75 Duster over Joe Teuton Jr.'s '68 Barracuda
in Super Stock.

Stock racer Michael Colalvca out of Lancaster, Texas, won in
Stock, Jackie Jones beat Rocky Mclain in Super Comp, Jerry Virgadamo
took the Super Gas honors, and Don Dittmer won in Super Street.

In the Sportsman Motorcycle Series presented by Harley
Davidson it was Mike McCullah taking the win while Keith Daniels won in
the Reher-Morrison Top Sportsman Series and Robert Cool beat fellow
LaPlace, La., racer Thomas Levatino in the TCI Comp Cams Top Dragster

NHRA South Central Division racers head to Houston Raceway
