SunTrust Racing Team Starts Third on the Grid for
Grand American’s Brumos Porsche 250 at Daytona
Daytona, Florida(June 29, 2006) – Due to technical difficulties in the communication between race control and track safety officials at Daytona International Speedway today, the second Grand American Rolex Sports Car Series practice session at 11:30 a.m. ET was cancelled. There was a 15-minute practice session at 12:40 p.m., the scheduled qualifying time. The grid for tonight’s Brumos Porsche 250 race will be set by points.
The No. 10 SunTrust Pontiac Riley of Wayne Taylor and Max Angelelli will start the Brumos Porsche 250 in the third position on the grid, due to their point standing of 297 points. The No. 10 CompUSA Lexus Riley of Scott Pruett and Luis Diaz, who are currently tied for first with the No. 76 Krohn Racing Ford Riley of Jorg Bergmeister and Colin Braun with 294 points.
“Starting third is a good position to start. It’s the inside lane.?? said SunTrust car owner/driver Wayne Taylor. “I just need to make sure I give the car to Max in one piece. We have to just see what happens, but I’m happy we’ve got that position to start.??
“I already feel a little stressed about running both races,?? said Max “The Ax?? Angelelli. “There’s a lot to think about…movement from the DP car to the IROC car, getting rehydrated and dressed in the IROC uniform, making sure the seat is right in the IROC car. It takes me awhile to get into the IROC car, so I don’t have much time between races. It’s going to be tough but I’ll manage.??
