MINDY’S MINUTE
Shoe Returns to NHRA Winner’s Circle
Moorpark, Calif. - (June 27, 2006) Two Ringers supporting teams met in Top
Fuel finals at the O’Reilly NHRA Midwest Nationals presented by Castrol on
Sunday.
Don Schumacher Racing’s Tony Schumacher made his first final round
appearance of the 2006 season at Gateway International Raceway in Madison, Ill.
Bud King Racing’s Brandon Bernstein, the defending Top Fuel race champion of
the event, met Shoe at the line in hopes of collecting his second
consecutive hometown win for his sponsor, Budweiser.
Unfortunately, a victory eluded Bernstein as he smoked the tires early down
the strip and Shoe returned to Winner’s Circle for his first win of the
season.
Ringers’ driver Tony Pedregon made his third final round appearance of the
year and took on his former boss John Force in Funny Car action on Sunday.
Force, the favored opponent, was leading TP until the 1,100-foot mark when
he blew a blower belt, handing TP his third win of the season with a
4.859/320.43 mph run.
Pedregon’s win boosted him to fourth place in point standings.
Pro Stock Motorcycle saw its fifth winner of the 2006 season and second
consecutive win for G-Squared Motorsports.
Matt Smith collected his first official NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle career win
last weekend in Englishtown. His teammate Chip Ellis picked up his first
win of the season, fourth of his career, on Sunday.
Ellis met Michael Phillips at the Tree. While Phillips jumped off the line
ahead of Ellis, Ellis ran Phillips down on his way to a 7.153/183.84 mph run
to Phillips’ 7.298/184.83 mph run.
Mike Edwards used his DriverX racing gloves by Ringers to shift past Larry
Morgan in the Pro Stock category, picking up his second win of the year. He
edged out Morgan by 20 inches, 6.717/205.76 mph to 6.715/205.82 mph.
NASCAR Nextel Cup Series – Dodge/Save Mart 350– Infineon Raceway, Sonoma,
Calif.
The Ringers team of Penske Racing South scored two top-five finishes with
its drivers Ryan Newman and Kurt Busch on Sunday at the Infineon Raceway road
course.
Kurt Busch collected the pole for the Dodge/Save Mart 350, while his
teammate Ryan Newman lined up in fourth.
Both drivers completed all 110 laps en route to double top-five finishes.
Newman came home behind race winner Jeff Gordon in second, while Busch held on
for fifth place.
Busch’s finish boosted him two spots in Nextel Cup point standings to 14th,
while Newman didn’t gain any ground and maintains 17th.
NASCAR Busch Series – AT&T 250 – The Milwaukee Mile, West Allis, Wis.
Paul Menard finally collected his first career Busch Series win! It came in
his home state of Wisconsin on Saturday at The Milwaukee Mile just outside
of Milwaukee.
Menard, an UnderX by Ringers user, held off an aggressive Kevin Harvick
during the final stages of the race. But Harvick’s bump triggered a wreck,
setting up a two-lap dash to the finish, with Menard being the victor.
Fellow UnderX user Jason Leffler led 45 laps of the race and held on for a
fourth place finish at the checkers.
NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series – Toyota Tundra Milwaukee 200 – The
Milwaukee Mile, West Allis, Wis.
Ringers team Billy Ballew Motorsports fielded two trucks on Friday night in
the Toyota Tundra Milwaukee 200. One was for team driver Kyle Krisiloff and
the second was for Wisconsin native, Johnny Sauter.
Sauter led the Ringers supporting team to the checkered flag in 12th place.
Green Light Racing’s Chad McCumbee finished 14th, while the next Ringers
driver to come across the line was Brendan Gaughan and his Orleans Hotel Dodge
in 19th.
Ringers racer Justin Allgaier finished 22nd, Billy Ballew Motorsports stable
driver Kyle Krisiloff, 29th and the second truck of Green Light Racing with
driver Chris Wimmer bowed out early with electrical woes, finishing 36th.

on Saturday in Richmond, Va., during the Richmond Times-Dispatch 100.
