Nation's Top Teen Auto Techs Compete in One-of-a-Kind Competition

NEW YORK, June 27 -- Now that school's out, many high school graduates are starting their engines in the search for their dream job. For student auto technicians, the Ford/AAA Student Auto Skills National Competition is the ultimate auto savvy challenge. It gives teens the skills they need to get a hands-on job in the automotive field, maintaining and repairing the cars of today and the future.

More than 6,000 high school students enrolled in automotive technology programs throughout the U.S. competed to get to this year's finals. Teams must repair identically 'bugged' Ford Mustang Convertibles. Top 10 teams earn substantial scholarships for college and technical school programs that will help them prepare for entry-level positions. The U.S. Department of Labor estimates the auto industry will need 35,000 new technicians each year through 2010. For more on the event visit http://www.aaanewsroom.net/.
