MARTZ WINS MIDWEST FOCUS RACE AT ANDERSON; XENIA RAINED OUT
INDIANAPOLIS – Tate Martz is quickly pulling away from USAC Midwest Ford
Focus Pavement Midget Car Series competitors in the point standings in his
attempt to score a third series championship.
Martz, of Rushville, Ind., won last Wednesday’s 30-lap race for the series
at the Anderson (Ind.) Speedway – which completed a program started May 24 –
by leading 25 laps. He paced the field for the first 23 before Craig Haack
took command, but regained the spot on Lap 29 and led the final two laps.
Martz was looking to make it three series victories in four races last
Friday at Kil-Kare Speedway in Xenia, Ohio before rain interfered, causing
officials to reschedule the event for July 28.
The next USAC Midwest Ford Focus race is scheduled for the Pavement
division, which will run July 8 on the quarter-mile track inside Kentucky
Speedway in Sparta, Ky.
