AAA Michigan and Michigan Credit Union League Announce Long-Term Joint Marketing Agreement
DEARBORN, Mich., June 26 -- AAA Michigan and CUcorp, the wholly-owned subsidiary of the Michigan Credit Union League (MCUL), have entered into a long-term, joint marketing agreement that will provide members of both organizations with exclusive products and services ranging from consumer loans to auto insurance.
Under the terms of the agreement, AAA Michigan will serve as the preferred provider of AAA membership, travel, insurance and investment services to members of Michigan credit unions. Likewise, Michigan credit unions will be showcased for the 1.6 million AAA members in the state as the preferred solution for deposit products, consumer loans, mortgage loans and other depository institution services.
"We are very excited about the opportunities that this new agreement will present to our members," said Linda M. Woolwine, president and COO of AAA Michigan. "It is designed to integrate members of Michigan credit unions and members of AAA into a common group of consumers with easy access to the full benefits that each organization provides."
Known as Members Together, the collaboration will implement strategies to strengthen AAA Michigan's relationship with credit unions and their members. AAA Michigan will use various marketing tools to position credit unions as the preferred solution for a wide variety of financial services. CUcorp will serve as the catalyst to channel credit union product referrals from AAA to the credit unions, with 4.4 million members in Michigan.
The unified product lineup will be marketed through as many as 370 Michigan credit unions, at each of AAA Michigan's 156 office locations and through call centers.
Credit union members in Michigan have had access to AAA Michigan Group products such as Auto Club membership, auto insurance and homeowner's insurance since the early 1970s. Membership in selected credit unions allowed these account holders to qualify for "member only" discounts on AAA products.
Under the terms of Members Together, AAA Michigan will work with CUcorp to create marketing tactics that promote credit union loans and deposits to members of the Auto Club, the first time that product referrals have flowed in both directions.
In the near future, a credit union advisory group will be established, consisting of credit union CEOs and representatives of AAA and CUcorp, to provide ideas on how credit unions and AAA can strengthen the Members Together value proposition.
