Slate Marks 10th Anniversary With New Design
Nissan is Exclusive Launch Sponsor With Site Buyout
ARLINGTON, Va., June 26 -- Daily online magazine SLATE will cap a week-long celebration of its 10th Anniversary with a new home page redesign, set to launch on Monday, June 26.
Automaker Nissan will be the exclusive sponsor of the redesign launch. Nissan's sponsorship will be featured in all the ad positions throughout the site on the day of launch, as well as a newly created premium ad position dubbed "The Sweet Spot" which will appear at the top of the homepage,
Aside from introducing a revised logo, the new design will display popular feature content more prominently, including reader favorites such as Today's Pictures, daily editorial cartoons and exclusive Doonesbury content. The design is the beginning of an 11th year in web publishing for Slate that will also bring a greater use of innovative video and multimedia features to add to the award-winning content.
Slate editor Jacob Weisberg said, "We're thrilled about this bold new look for Slate's cover. The larger computer screens that are now common, and the greater penetration of broadband, allows us to promote more of our content in a more graphic and visually arresting way. The look of various Slate features will continue to evolve over the coming months."
Cliff Sloan, publisher of Slate, said, "The redesign is a visual reflection of the next phase of the groundbreaking and exciting web journalism that distinguished Slate's first decade. We're delighted to have Nissan as a partner in ushering in this new era."
The homepage design and new logo change (the first logo change since the site's original launch) were developed by New York-based design firm, Helicopter. OMD handled the media planning and buying for Nissan.
