Herta Collects Sixth-Place Finish at Richmond
In XM Satellite Radio Machine
RICHMOND, Va. (June 24, 2006) - Bryan Herta, driver of the #7 XM Satellite Radio car, drove to a
sixth-place result in Saturday night's SunTrust Indy Challenge Presented by XM Satellite Radio. It moved
him up one spot into ninth place in the IndyCar Series driver championship, only 11 points out of seventh.
Herta, who started ninth, was running among the top-12 cars throughout the 250-lap event, but was
slowed frequently by lapped traffic during the first half of the race. After his second and final pit stop on lap
153, the XM Satellite Radio car was running as well as it had all night. Over the final 50 laps of the race,
Herta was able to pass a couple of cars and move into the sixth position, his third top-10 result of the year.
Sam Hornish Jr. won for the second time in 2006 and was followed by Vitor Meira. Herta's AGR
teammates Dario Franchitti and Marco Andretti finished third and fourth, respectively. Scott Sharp rounded
out the top five.
The IndyCar Series is in action next weekend from Kansas Speedway for the Kansas Lottery
Indy 300. The eighth of 14 IndyCar Series events will be broadcast live by ABC Sports beginning at 1 p.m.
(EDT) on Sunday, July 2. All IndyCar Series races can also be heard live by XM Satellite Radio subscribers
on XM channel 145, the official home of the IndyCar Series.
Bryan Herta, #7 XM Satellite Radio Dallara/Honda/Firestone:
"I think we were better tonight than our result. In the last stint the XM Satellite Radio car really came
to us, but we really didn't have the kind of track position that we needed at the start of the race. It's always
going to be tough to pass here and that's fine. But, there were some cars here tonight that were really driving
irresponsibly. When it's not your night and you're a few laps down, you've got to know not to hold cars up and
affect the race. On my second stint, I went from running four seconds behind the leader to being almost a lap
down just from traffic blocking us."
George Klotz, Team Manager, #7 XM Satellite Radio Dallara/Honda/Firestone:
"We had a really good car in the race and Bryan was racing the heck out of it. The XM Satellite
Radio team got a bunch of points and a decent finish. It's a lot better result than we've had recently so
hopefully we can keep it going and carry the momentum into Kansas."
