BMW Leads The Industry In High-Tech Auto Features According To The Telematics Research Group
Night Vision, Head-Up Display, Navigation, and BMW Assist Help BMW to Outpace All Other Marques.
Woodcliff Lake, NJ - June 23, 2006: When it comes to offering high-tech features that enhance the driving experience, BMW outpaces all other marques sold in North America, according to the Telematics Research Group (TRG) Automotive Technology Index. In the index, which measures the availability of key telematics, driver assistance and infotainment technologies across a brand’s current vehicle lineup, BMW lead all other brands with the top score.
In the index, BMW was acknowledged for offering the ultimate in helpful, high-tech aids. Integrated navigation systems with iDrive and Voice Command, BMW Night Vision, Park Distance Control, Adaptive Cruise Control, and Head-Up Display are offered as features – helping BMW achieve the top ranking. Entertainment offerings include Sirius Satellite Radio and HD Radio, iPod integration and rear seat entertainment.
The BMW AssistTM system and services are included as standard in every new BMW 5, 6 and 7 Series model, and offered as an option in all other BMW models. Bluetooth® hands-free calling with speech recognition is included as part of the BMW Assist system. BMW Assist services include automatic collision notification, stolen vehicle recovery and the innovative TeleService feature which automatically sends the upcoming service needs and status to the customer’s preferred BMW center. The service advisor then calls the customer to schedule a convenient appointment.
BMW Assist was also recognized at the 2006 Telematics Update Awards on May 23, 2006 as “Best Consumer Vehicle Application”. The Telematics Update Awards, which are held each year in conjunction with the Telematics Update Detroit conference, is the only event of its type designed to recognize companies' performance and contributions to the telematics industry.
“BMW has been a technology leader for many years, as it is part of the brand’s positioning,” says Phil Magney, principal analyst for TRG. For more information on the study, visit: www.telematicsresearch.com/imageArchive/Technology_Index.JPG
