Evaluate the Technical Developments within the World's Automotive Turbo Chargers and Superchargers Sector

DUBLIN, Ireland--June 22, 2006--Research and Markets (http://www.researchandmarkets.com/reports/c38509) has announced the addition of Global Market Review of Automotive Turbo Chargers and Superchargers - Forecasts to 2012 to their offering.

Global production of turbochargers for light passenger vehicles increased by almost 400% from 1995 to 2005, mainly due to increased applications in diesel engines.

Until relatively recently, turbochargers were primarily employed in high performance applications, boosting the output of already high power engines. With the advent of direct injection diesels in passenger cars, the potential of turbochargers to improve power density for economy reasons began to be exploited, particularly in Western Europe, which has accounted for around three-quarters of the growth in demand.

Regional findings:

Europe - The market for turbochargers has experienced an
unprecedented boom in the last ten years. The
increasing availability of gasoline direct injection
(GDI) engines could create significant opportunities
                for superchargers.

North America - The auto industry as a whole suffered in 2005 due to
Hurricane Katrina, which contributed to sustained
gasoline prices of over US$2.50 per gallon. Diesels
face an uphill struggle and it may be at least 2008
before OEMs will be successful in promoting diesel as
an effective solution to America's current energy
                concerns.

Asia - Japan has shown some aversion to the diesel engine.
Although major carmakers have developed GDI engine
technology, to date, there is no significant move
                towards boosting these engines.

Report coverage:

This new report looks in detail at the global market for
turbochargers and superchargers, highlighting technical developments,
drivers for growth, regions where the market has boomed, market
trends, shares and growth, and the major players. A market outlook to
2012 provides a guide to where the most potential lies, how each
regional market will change and grow, and how turbocharger,
supercharger, hybrids and powertrain technology is set to develop in
the years to come.

Topics Covered

Chapter 1 - Executive summary, providing an overview of the report's
             key findings.

Chapter 2 - The turbocharger: what is it and how does it work?
Developments in the market in the last ten years are
examined, looking at drivers for growth, technical
developments and innovations, including variable geometry
             turbocharging, two-stage boosting, gasoline engine
             boosting and twin-scroll turbocharging.

Chapter 3 - Turbocharging in Europe... and the diesel engine. This
chapter looks at the extent to which each type of
turbocharger is used in the European market. After the
introduction of diesel direct injection systems in Europe
and the rapid success achieved, OEM engineers' attention
turned to developing a new range of gasoline engines that
would work by the same principle.

Chapter 4 - Turbocharging in North America - the dominance of
gasoline. Whilst diesel engines are the minority in this
region, engine boosting is perceived more as performance
improvement on high end applications. This chapter looks
at the VMs who are pushing for turbodiesel technology to
lead the next wave of powertrain technology.

Chapter 5 - Turbocharging in Asia-Pacific. This chapter looks at the
use of turbochargers in Japan, China and the rest of
             Asia.

Chapter 6 - The supercharger: what is it and how does it work? This
chapter includes a technical explanation. It also
identifies developments in the market and drivers for
growth over the last ten years.

Chapter 7 - Supercharging in Europe. The twincharger was a big
breakthrough for the European supercharger market in
2005; this chapter explains why and highlights the
leaders in this area. This chapter also looks at the cost
gap between diesel and gasoline engines, opportunities
             with GDI, and efficiency improvements.

Chapter 8 - Supercharging in North America. As this area has not
experienced serious pressure on vehicle engine technology
to reduce fuel consumption, superchargers will continue
to be used for high performance. This chapter outlines
how this may change, and what the potential may be.

Chapter 9 - Supercharging in Asia: the use of superchargers in Japan,
China and the rest of Asia, and the possibilities of
             exporting to other markets.

Chapter 10 - Turbocharger and supercharger market trends and forecasts
to 2012. This chapter is essential reading for anyone
planning to exploit opportunities that will arise from
changes in the market over the next six years. It
provides global and regional forecasts for demand and
market value, for passenger and commercial vehicles.

Chapter 11 - Supplier market shares are given for global turbocharger
production in 2005 of the major competitors on the world
stage, and then on a regional basis.

Chapter 12 - Supplier profiles. This chapter looks at the major
suppliers, their positions in terms of turbochargers and
             superchargers markets, their financial position,
corporate strategies, and their most recent products and
             innovations.

Chapter 13 - Outlook and roadmap for engine boosting to 2011 for
turbochargers and superchargers. This chapter outlines
demand, how the markets may change and differ in each
region, depending on the popularity of diesel, gasoline
or hybrid engines. It also predicts how technology will
evolve, and how the powertrain of the future will provide
new opportunities for turbochargers and superchargers.
