BP is on the Hunt for the Next Amoco Ultimate Golden Mechanic

CHICAGO--June 21, 2006--Starting today, BP is launching its second annual Amoco Ultimate Golden Mechanic contest. BP is searching under the hoods of cars and trucks nationwide to find the top auto technician in America. The grand prize winner will take home $25,000, a year's worth of Amoco Ultimate premium fuel and will be named an Amoco Ultimate spokesperson for 2007.

From June 19 to August 11, independent auto technicians over the age of 21 are eligible to enter the Amoco Ultimate Golden Mechanic contest by visiting www.bpgoldenmechanic.com.

"We want to reward the mechanic who consistently goes above and beyond in the garage, providing quality service to his or her customers each day. At BP, we offer only quality fuel products to consumers and are looking for a top-notch auto technician who also embodies this type of commitment," said Chuck Grawey, Vice President of BP's Fuels Management Group. "Our ideal candidate has premium auto repair skills, a charismatic personality, is active in his or her community and is environmentally conscious."

BP will select the three best mechanics who will receive an all-expenses paid three day/two night trip to Las Vegas, Nevada, where they will compete in a head-to-head competition at the 2006 SEMA show to battle it out for the coveted "Golden Wrench." The finalists will demonstrate their automotive expertise and abilities in front of a live audience and panel of qualified judges, including automotive industry experts.

In 2005, BP selected it's first-ever Amoco Ultimate Golden Mechanic amongst hundreds of entries. Ryan Kooiman, a diagnostic specialist from Allendale, Mich., beat out two other finalists in a live final showdown on Las Vegas Boulevard.

"Winning BP's 2005 Amoco Ultimate Golden Mechanic Contest was a dream come true," said Ryan Kooiman. "This title has afforded me many great opportunities over the past year, including meeting influential people in the automotive industry and hosting my own radio show. It really has been a rewarding experience and I encourage every independent mechanic to enter."

Now is your chance. Do you or does someone you know go above and beyond in the garage? If so, be sure to enter yourself or place your nominations for the second annual Amoco Ultimate Golden Mechanic Contest today!
