Milwaukee Mile and Summerfest Announce Partnership
MILWAUKEE (June 21, 2006) - The Milwaukee Mile and Summerfest are teaming up
this summer to bring more entertainment to Wisconsin consumers and
cross-promote the events. The Mile will have its Mobile Mile fan
interactive road show at Summerfest this year.
Summerfest will be presenting a pre-Summerfest concert with The Bobby Friss
Band during this weekend's NASCAR event weekend at The Mile. The Bobby
Friss Band will also perform at this year's Summerfest, the World's Largest
Music Festival, which takes place June 29 - July 9, 2006 on Milwaukee's
beautiful lakefront.
On Sunday, July 23, The Milwaukee Mile will be hosting the stars of the
Indianapolis 500 competing in the ABC Supply / A.J. Foyt 225 IRL IndyCar
Series event. On race morning, the track will host a post-Summerfest "Thank
You Concert" featuring The Eddie Butts Band, another perennial favorite at
Summerfest. In addition, Summerfest will have a visual presence trackside
at The Mile for the duration of the racing season.
The Mobile Mile is an outreach program that will provide Summerfest
attendees with a chance to experience and view the excitement of the legacy
and history of The Milwaukee Mile, the oldest continuously operating motor
speedway in the world.
"As new Milwaukee Mile promoters, we are reaching out into all areas,
through our Miss Milwaukee Mile contest, through our Mobile Mile roadshow
and other initiatives," commented Andy Randall, Milwaukee Mile President &
CEO. "On behalf of our chairman Craig Stoehr, we are very pleased to be
working with Summerfest in gaining awareness for the rich racing history of
America's Legendary Oval at Summerfest, the World's Largest Music Festival."
"We are very excited about partnering with the Milwaukee Mile. Both
Summerfest and The Mile are genuine Milwaukee assets that continually
deliver summer excitement and a fantastic entertainment value for our
community year after year," stated Don Smiley, President and Chief Executive
Officer of Milwaukee World Festival, Inc. "Working closely to cross-promote
each other makes a lot of sense for us as marketers, and for the patrons
that we host."
The Mobile Mile will be at the South end of Summerfest grounds for the run
of the event, including appearances by the Milwaukee Mile Grid Girls, and a
chance to sign up for the Miss Milwaukee Mile contest. Details of these
activities can be found by visiting <http://www.milwaukeemile.com/>

About The Bobby Friss Band
Having earned the reputation as one of the hardest working and most popular
musicians in Florida, Friss broke the regional mode for the first time in
1988 with the release of Cut Loose. The independently recorded,
self-produced LP found its way onto several Florida AOR stations with the
single "You Can't Come Back" and eventually sold nearly 10,000 copies in
Florida alone.
After spending most of 1989 on the road in support of Cut Loose, Friss
returned to the studio to begin recording his second album. Filled with
eight Friss-penned originals, Fate highlights Friss' optimistic outlook on
life.
Bobby Friss will continue his touring, recording, and entertaining into the
millenium with the same exhausting energy as the first night he set foot on
stage many shows ago.
About The Eddie Butts Band
The Eddie Butts Band has delighted audiences at festivals and on the concert
and nightclub circuits for many years, and is one of the longest-running,
most successful bands in Wisconsin and the Midwest. Eddie is also known as
one of the city's premier vocalists. When you combine his smoky-baritone
with the sweet tones of the band's two female vocalists, the fantastic
musicianship and a delicious blend of jazz, pop and R&B, it's easy to see
why the Eddie Butts Band is considered a Milwaukee & Wisconsin favorite year
after year.
