Tim Sauter Coming Home to The Mile
Wisconsin Racer Will Make His 100th Start at Home Track Saturday
Saturday will be a homecoming for Tim Sauter and his family as the
NASCAR Busch Series comes to the Sauter’s home track; The Milwaukee
Mile. The week will be filled with activities including a “Team
Sauter” autograph session and appearance in The Mile’s Victory Club
on Saturday afternoon. Tim is also throwing out the first pitch at
the Milwaukee Brewers vs. Detroit Tigers game on Wednesday.
After the pre-race hoopla Sauter will hit the oldest continuously
operated racetrack in the United States in his Lester Buildings #36.
The McGill Motorsports team is bringing a rebuilt car to The Mile, it
is the same car that the team ran at Nashville earlier in the year
and has been totally rebuilt to be a twin to the car that the team
has run well with the last two weeks.
“Our finishes the last couple weeks are no indication of how well we
have run,” said Sauter. “The cars have handled better and our lap
times are much more competitive. I feel real comfortable in the car.
We’ve had some issues with track position that have hurt us and we
need to be more consistent on pit road. Overall, this team is headed
in the right direction and it feels good. I’m hoping we can smooth
those deals out this week and give the hometown fans a great finish.”
As one of the many activities planned building up to the race, Tim
will throw out the first pitch prior to the 1:05 p.m. CST Milwaukee
Brewers vs. Detroit Tigers on Wednesday, June 21st at Miller Park.
Last August, Sauter signed a minor league contract, practiced and
took an at-bat in a Gary (Ind.) Southshore Railcats game against the
Kansas City T-Bones. Sauter was able to make contact and hit a foul
ball down the first base line, but went down swinging in what may be
his only professional at-bat. Sauter is thrilled to have the
opportunity, “Growing up we always followed the Brewers when weren’t
at a race, my boys are all Brewers fans. I look forward to
representing the Milwaukee Mile, Lester Buildings, McGill Motorsports
and the entire NASCAR community.”
An autograph session with Jay Sauter, Tim Sauter and Johnny Sauter is
planned from 1:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. at the Lester Buildings
display on the fan midway, located behind Turn One of The Mile.
Autographs are free, with “Team Sauter” t-shirts available for
purchase only at this event, 100-percent of the proceeds from the
sale of the t-shirts benefiting The Queen of the Holy Rosary School
in the drivers’ hometown of Necedah, Wis.
The AT&T 250 will begin at 8 p.m. on June 24and will be televised
live on FX.
• This will be Tim’s 100th start in the NBS and 105th career NASCAR
start.
• All three Sauter brothers will attempt to make the AT&T 250.
• Tim’s sister, Angela Dziewior will sing the National Anthem for the
AT&T 250.
• Tim currently sits 26th in the NBS point standings.
• Tim’s career best start (3rd) came at The Mile on June 30, 2002.
• This will be the fifth time Tim has competed at The Mile in the
NBS, best finish: June 2002 - GNC Live Well 250 - Finished 9th,
started 3rd.
Tim’s thoughts on The Milwaukee Mile: “This week is going be big.
It’s big for my family, big for Lester Buildings and it’s the biggest
event at The Mile each year. I’m real excited about the car we are
going to run. The guys in the shop worked really hard to build a twin
of the car that we have been running well with lately. A good run
this week can erase a little of the tough luck we had earlier this
year.”
• This will be the second time McGill Motorsports has competed at The
Mile in the NBS, best finish: June 2005 – SBC 250 - Driver; Stanton
Barrett - Finished 21st, started 13th.
