*Line’s looks to keep momentum going at St. Louis*
MADISON, Ill. (June 20, 2006) –Jason Line tries to keep his KB Racing
LLC/Summit Racing Equipment Pontiac GTO at the forefront of the Pro
Stock class, as he uses the momentum from his win at last weekend’s race
this weekend at the 10th annual NHRA O’Reilly Midwest Nationals, which
gets underway Friday at Gateway International Raceway in Madison, Ill.,
just across the Mississippi River from St. Louis.
Line, who won the Englishtown, N.J. event for the third consecutive
year, has two wins this year in a class that has seen eight different
winners in 11 events thus far on this year’s NHRA POWERade Drag Racing
Series schedule.
"The class has evened up a lot this year and (Englishtown) was a good
win for the team - a nice morale boost heading into the hot summer
months,” said Line following last weekend’s win. “Any time you can win
gives you momentum and confidence heading down the stretch.
“Parity in Pro Stock is much closer than it's been in years past, and
the fans like that. Everybody has about the same power, everybody's
making good runs, and there are a lot of sharp people out here doing
this. To be able to win anytime is a big deal, but each time I win it's
an even bigger deal because I realize how hard it is to get here. You
learn to enjoy it a little more as time goes on.
"It appears we have a good hot-weather car so I'm looking forward to
going to St. Louis. I'm more excited now about going there than I was
last week (before Englishtown). The car was great and hopefully this
indicates we have a good hot-weather tune-up.”
Line and his teammate, three-time and reigning NHRA POWERade Pro Stock
champion Greg Anderson, currently sit atop the Pro Stock point
standings heading into qualifying for the NHRA O’Reilly Midwest
Nationals. Anderson leads the way with 763 points, while Line is No. 2
with 726 points.
While it looks like, from the advanced forecast, temperatures will stay
in the mid- 80s, cool by St. Louis standards, qualifying and
eliminations for this event are run in the late afternoon on into the
evening.
Qualifying for Line and his KB Racing LLC/Summit Racing Equipment Pro
Stock Pontiac GTO begins with two Pro Stock sessions on Friday, June 23,
scheduled for 5 and 8 p.m. and concludes with two additional Pro Stock
sessions on Saturday, June 24, at 2 and 7 p.m. Line then begins his
quest for the O’Reilly Midwest Nationals Pro Stock title on Sunday, June
25, with eliminations for all professional classes beginning at 3 p.m.
*All times are local St. Louis time (CT) and subject to change at
anytime. *
