20 FOCUS WINNERS IN 33 RACES SO FAR
INCLUDING EIGHT FIRST-TIME WINNERS!
USAC Ford Focus racing in 2006 has produced a wide variety of different race winners, from 16-year-olds Michael Faccinto and Zach Schiff to 46-year-old Mike Ward and they have used four different chassis to get the job done. Beast, Stealth, Hawk and TCR chassis have recorded victories in the 33 races held to date and 20 different drivers have tasted victory, including eight for the first time!
Zach Schiff of Columbus, Ohio, Thomas Gray of Elk Grove, Calif., Bradley Riethmeyer of Houston, Texas, Chris and Cameron Veach of Livermore, Calif., Michael Faccinto of Hanford, Calif., Keith Janca of Corona, Calif. and Craig Haack of Lewisburg, Tenn. are the first-time winners this year.
Eight different drivers lead the current standings in the eight contested Ford Focus series and six of them could become first-time USAC champions! Despite some drivers excelling in their series, no driver has a point lead that can't be overcome in a single race! Three of the championships find the point leaders separated by five or less points!
The Ford Focuses have already competed this year on 21 different speedways, six for the first time, while 17 more tracks will host Ford Focus races in 2006, including another six for the first time ever.
One of the concepts of Ford Focus Midget Racing, to develop young talent, has obviously been served so far this year. Of the 18 different winners in 2006, 12 are 20 years old or younger. Five others are between the ages of 20 and 25.
Ironically, this year's feature winners so far do NOT yet include reigning National Champion Robbie Ray or 2005 USAC Ford Focus driving champions Jamie Williams, Michael Sboro, Jasiel Randolph, Chase Barber or Alex Harris!
USAC Ford Focus Midget racing this week will include the Indiana Series at Mount Lawn Speedway in New Castle, Ind. Wednesday, the Midwest Pavement Series at Xenia, Ohio Friday, the Northeast Series at Belmar, N.J. Saturday and the California Dirt Series at Bakersfield, Calif. Saturday.
