The Heads First Coalition Urges Veto

  WHO:   The Heads First Coalition, representing the medical community,
         traffic safety and insurance industry organizations in Michigan.

  WHAT:  The coalition will respond to the Legislature's approval of Senate
         Bill 297, which will repeal the state's 37-year mandatory
         motorcycle helmet law.

  WHEN:  11 a.m. THURSDAY, June 22, 2006

  WHERE: Rotunda, State Capitol Building, downtown Lansing

  WHY:   The Coalition will present information about the costs that repeal
         of the motorcycle helmet law will have on Michigan residents.  This
         legislative action -- unless vetoed -- will result in at least 22
         additional fatalities and more than 700 additional injuries each
         year.
