Scott Pruett, No. 40 Coors Light Dodge Advance
Dodge/Save-Mart 350- Infineon Raceway
No. 40 TEAM FACTS:
* Driver Line-Up: This weekend, while Scott Pruett is out West
filling in for David Stremme in the No. 40 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Dodge at
Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, Calif., Stremme will be filling in for Reed
Sorenson in the No. 41 Busch Series Dodge at the Milwaukee Mile in West
Allis, Wis. Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates (CGRFS) announced
last month Pruett-the team's road-racing veteran and current points
leader of the Rolex Sports Car Series-would make the switch from Daytona
Prototypes to stock cars to race the No. 40 Dodge entry in the first
NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series road course race of the season on June 25. In
the meantime, Stremme will go race at the Milwaukee Mile where he has
three NASCAR Busch Series starts and has never finished outside the top
five. Altogether, he has totaled one pole, two top-five starts, and
three top-five finishes. Stremme will resume his driving duties of the
No. 40 Dodge July 1 at Daytona International Speedway.
* Double Duty: This weekend Pruett will be pulling double duty
driving the No. 40 car in the NEXTEL Cup Series race at Infineon Raceway
and the No. 01 car in the Grand American Series at Mid-Ohio. He will
spend Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday in Ohio before flying across the
country to practice and qualify the No. 40 Dodge on Friday. After the
Emco Gears Classic in Ohio on Saturday night he will fly back to
California for the 110-lap event on Sunday.
* Golden State Natives: Three members of the Coors Light team
hail from California. Driver Scott Pruett (Sacramento, Calif.), front
tire changer Scott Ward (Clearlake, Calif.) and rear tire changer Daryl
Lockyer (Los Angeles).
* Road Course Stats: Pruett has 35 career NASCAR NEXTEL Cup
Series starts dating back to 2000, five of which have come at the
1.99-mile Infineon Raceway. He recorded his best finish of third at the
track two years ago in the No. 39 Dodge, crossing the finish line
directly behind CGRFS teammate Jamie McMurray. Pruett has made six
starts for CGRFS in road course races at Infineon and Watkins Glen over
the past five seasons. His average starting position is 16th and his
average finish is 10th. Overall he has nine starts on road courses and
his highest finish is second at Watkins Glen in 2003.
* Chassis: Crew Chief Steve Lane and the No. 40 Coors Light crew
are taking chassis No. 311 for the first road course race of the season.
This will be the first time this year that the team will race this
chassis, but Pruett did test it at Virginia International Raceway (VIR)
earlier this month in preparation for this weekend's event.
* NASCAR NEXTEL Cup points standings: The No. 40 Dodge is 38th
in the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup owner's standings. It is 438 points out of the
top 20.
Scott Pruett Quote:
"The relationship I've had with Chip and the whole Ganassi organization
over the past few years has been outstanding, and I love the balance of
running the Rolex Series with the NEXTEL Cup races. We've had a lot of
success this season in the Daytona Prototypes already, but a personal
goal of mine has always been to get a NASCAR win under my belt. The
Coors Light crew and I have somewhat of a positive history together,
finishing fourth at The Glen last season after starting dead last. It
will definitely be a hectic weekend traveling back and forth from Ohio
to Sonoma, but I'm up for the challenge. Let's go racing."
