Devens Dishes Up New Tire Rack SCCA Solo National Tour Winners


TOPEKA, Kan. (June 15, 2006) - The ever-expanding talent pool in Tire
Rack(r) SCCA Solo National Tour competition grew even more last weekend
in Devens, Mass., where several new names popped up on the 2006 winner's
list, mixing in with some other well-known names.

 

Eric Simmons, of Macungie, Pa., needed every ounce of his effort to win
F Street Prepared in a 1981 Volkswagen Scirocco, taking the class by
0.073-sec. over Jinx Jordan, of Terrell, N.C.  The gap between the
Jordan-driven Hoosier/Koni/Redshift 1992 Honda Civic and third-place
co-driver Frederick White, of Milton, Mass., was considerably wider,
with 1.045 seconds separating the two.

 

In Street Modified, another co-driving pair weighed in heavily on the
final results as Christopher Travis, of Mahopac, N.Y., and Nelson
Antunes, of Watertown, Conn., drove the King Motorsports/A-Spec 1994
Honda Civic to first and second-place finishes, respectively, with
Travis taking the class by 0.220-sec.  Chris Janusz, of Hunlock Creek,
Pa., was third in the Hoosier 1988 Honda Civic, 1.779 seconds behind
Antunes.

 

Radomin Delgado, of Edison, N.J., earned top honors by 0.189-sec. in
Street Modified 2, taking the class victory over co-driver Andrew
Karpinski, of Bernardsville, N.J.  Coming in 0.269-sec. behind the duo's
radomin@att.net 2004 Porsche 911 GT3, Richard Wayne, of Floral Park,
N.Y. took third in his 1990 Mazda Miata.

 

Class wins weren't only reserved for new names, however, as a couple of
recognizable names also graced the tops of several classes.

 

Keith Casey, of Somerset, Mass., powered his RallyDecals.com 2004 Mazda
RX-8 to the B Stock win by 0.778-sec. over John Vitamvas, of Columbia,
Md., who co-drove the www.TeamWTF.org 2004 Mazda RX-8 with Jeremy
Caplan, of Silver Spring, Md., who was third.  

 

Paul Kozlak, of Litchfield, Maine, beat out 11 other A Stock competitors
last weekend, including his wife, Lynne Rothney-Kozlak, who co-drove the
Red Haus Racing 1997 Porsche 993 with her husband and finished second,
0.910-sec. behind.  George Modlin, of Webster, N.Y. was third.

 

In F Stock, Sam Strano, of Brookville, Pa., was simply superior to the
rest of the field, taking the class by 3.668 seconds in his Strano
Performance 2005 Ford Mustang.  Ron Bistrais, of West Windsor, N.J., was
second in his Evolution Performance Driving School 1997 Chevrolet
Camaro, and Jeffrey Martynuska, of Rindge, N.H., in the Fun Hondas 1997
Pontiac Trans Am.  

 

After four weeks of Tire Rack SCCA Solo action split between the Tire
Rack SCCA Solo National Tour and Tire Rack SCCA ProSolo National Series,
competitors receive a weekend off before the next ProSolo National
Series event, scheduled for June 24-25 at FedEx Field in Washington,
D.C.
