Camara to Test Andretti Green IndyCar Friday at Nashville

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (June 15, 2006) - Andretti Green Racing Indy Pro Series driver Jaime Camara will test one of Andretti Green Racing's IndyCar Series cars Friday at Nashville Superspeedway.

The test, which will last for half of Friday's test session, will make Camara the first Indy Pro Series driver to receive IndyCar Series testing time as a result of a new Indy Racing League program announced late last year.

The program allows IndyCar Series teams that field full-time entries in the Indy Pro Series to earn a bonus test for their IndyCar Series program after every three races - up to six extra test days for a two-car effort. Working in conjunction with Sam Schmidt Motorsports, Andretti Green fields entries for Camara and rookie Jonathan Klein.

Camara will split time with Tony Kanaan in the #11 Team 7-Eleven Honda-powered Dallara on Friday. Andretti Green rookie Marco Andretti will also test Friday behind the wheel of the #26 NYSE Dallara/Honda/Firestone.

Klein's first stint in an Andretti Green IndyCar will come in the near future as part of an upcoming AGR test session.

Both the IndyCar Series and Indy Pro Series are slated to race at Nashville on Saturday, July 15.

Jaime Camara, #11 CELG/Goias Dallara/Firestone: "I'm really excited about the IndyCar test. It's going to be another step in my career. It's always been the goal - the IndyCar Series. Achieving that is a big step for me. I hope I can do a good job. At the end if the team is satisfied with my performance, I think that's a very good point in my favor for something for next year. (ON TESTING AT NASHVILLE, WHERE HE WON IN THE PRO SERIES LAST YEAR)  I think it's coincidental, but it's going to be fun because it's a track that I know how to drive. I know it's a different car, everything is different, but I know what a good line is there. I'll just do my best and try to adapt really quick to the IndyCar. I think I can do a good job, and the team is going to do the best they can to give me a great car there."

This is a great opportunity for a young driver like Jaime, who has shown a lot of potential in the Indy Pro Series. It's also important for AGR to help identify and develop young drivers, which is something we always have an interest in. "The day will be spent getting him used to the feel of the 'big' car - the additional grip level and horsepower, which will be significantly different. He'll get to work one on one with our engineering staff and with his mentor, Tony Kanaan, so I would expect it should be a very productive day and a very special day for Jaime."
