Scuderia Toro Rosso Testing Round-up, Monza, June 15
MONZA TEST - 2 DAY ROUND-UP 15 June 2006 Wednesday Scott Speed 77 laps 1.24.630 Thursday Tonio Liuzzi 98 laps 1.24.670 Circuit length: 5.793 kmThe Formula 1 world of make-belief continues with those teams running at Monza this week trying to pretend they were actually driving around another "M" circuit, namely Montreal. The Italian track is the nearest to the Canadian one in terms of its speed and aero requirements, hence this test prior to crossing the Atlantic for the two North American rounds of the World Championship. "Both the Canadian and US races require similar low levels of downforce and it was the first time this year that we have run our car in its latest low drag configuration," said Chief Engineer, Laurent Mekies. These have been a useful two days, as the temperatures have been high, which is what we can expect at the next two races. Apart from the aero work, we also evaluated tyres for the next two grands prix, particularly Indianapolis and the fact that Monza is quite tough on brakes has also been useful, given that Montreal is the hardest track of the year from this perspective."
