*Englishtown next up for Will*
ENGLISHTOWN, N.J. (June 14, 2006) -- Hillary Will, the
California-native, who now calls Ypsilanti, Mich. home, hopes that this
weekend is the breakthrough race that the rookie driver needs to
catapult her into the top ten in the NHRA POWERade point standings.
Will, who has three round-wins to her credit and has qualified in the
top half of the field in six of her 10 starts, including a personal-best
second in Bristol, needs to pick up 61 points to crack the elite top ten.
Entering the 11th of 23 races in the POWERade Drag racing Series, the
37th annual K&N Filters Supernationals at Old Bridge Township Raceway
Park in Englishtown, N.J., Will, who drives the KB Racing LLC-owned,
Kalitta Motorsports-managed Top Fuel dragster, occupies the No. 12
position in the Top Fuel point standings.
The K&N Filters Supernationals is the second of three
back-to-back-to-back races in the month of June. As she rapidly
approaches the halfway point of her rookie season, Will plans to use her
previous experience as a Top Alcohol Dragster driver under the tutelage
of Bucky Austin and her experience as a Top Fuel driver thus far this
season under the tutelage of crew chief Jim Oberhofer and the entire
resources of Kalitta Motorsports to help her en route to the top ten.
"I can't pinpoint the most important thing I have learned so far this
year," reflected Will, on the eve of Englishtown. "We are not even
halfway through the season and I have gained so much knowledge that I
could write pages upon pages if I were to sum it all up.
"Obviously, the most important aspect of my learning curve is becoming a
better driver. At the same time, I'm adjusting to life as
a professional racer, getting accustomed to being on such a dynamic
team, learning how to be a tougher competitor, and learning a lot about
life in general."
Qualifying for Will and her KB Racing LLC dragster begins with two nitro
fuel sessions on Friday, June 16, scheduled for 4:30 and 7:30 p.m. and
concludes with two additional nitro fuel sessions on Saturday, June 17,
at 1 and 3:30 p.m. Will begins her quest for the K&N Filters
Supernationals Top Fuel title on Sunday, June 18, with eliminations for
all classes beginning at 11 a.m. *All times are local Englishtown, N.J.
time (ET) and subject to change at anytime. *
Qualifying highlights for 37th annual K&N Filters Supernationals can be
seen on ESPN2 on Saturday (June 17) from 5-7 p.m. ESPN2 will also air
same-day television coverage of eliminations from 4-7 p.m. (Sunday, June
18). The elimination show repeats early Tuesday morning (June 20) from
