Stewart, CHP Square Off on Road Course

 in Pursuit Training Demonstration

 

WHAT:         

Defending NASCAR NEXTEL Cup and Infineon Raceway champion Tony Stewart
(Home Depot Chevrolet) and the California Highway Patrol (CHP) will
demonstrate pursuit training exercises on the road course at Infineon
Raceway in advance of the Dodge/Save Mart 350 weekend, June 23-25.

 

WHEN:

Wednesday, June 21, 2 p.m. (Pacific). The demonstration will be followed
by a formal press conference for the media.

 

WHERE/CIRCUIT:   

Infineon Raceway, Highways 37 and 121, Sonoma. The demonstrations will
take place on the same 10-turn, 1.99-mile road course that will be used
for the Dodge/Save Mart 350.

 

ABOUT THE CHP:

Officer Brian Dabalos of the CHP's Valley Division, based in the
Sacramento area, will drive a six-speed Chevrolet Camaro, equipped with
roll cage. Dabalos was an EVOC (Emergency Vehicle Operations Course)
driving instructor at the CHP Academy in Sacramento for four years
(2001-2005). He will demonstrate driving techniques used when pursuing
motorists on area roads, including proper cornering and positioning,
which maximizes speed and performance in a pursuit situation. 

 

ABOUT STEWART:

Stewart will be driving a Chevrolet Impala during the pursuit
demonstration.

 

IN ADDITION:

Officer Dabalos will also demonstrate proper technique in approaching a
motorist, after the vehicle has been stopped.
