MTS Technologies, Inc. and Quatech Collaborate on Dedicated Short Range Communications with Wireless ePULSE

HUDSON, Ohio--June 13, 2006--

Quatech's Airborne(TM) 802.11 Wireless Module and MTS Technologies' Wireless ePULSE Solution Successfully Trialed on Michigan Roadways

QuaTech Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of DPAC Technologies Corp. (OTCBB:DPAC) and a leader in embedded 802.11 wireless OEM solutions, today announced a joint effort with MTS Technologies Inc. to collaborate on wireless solutions that support Dedicated Short Range Communications (DSRC) standards. The alliance will enable both QuaTech, Inc. and MTS Technologies, Inc., a leading product development and professional services firm, to develop and test DSRC functionality as part of the U.S. Department of Transportation's Vehicle Infrastructure Integration (VII) initiatives.

"Wireless ePULSE solutions have been reporting data over Michigan roadways for the past year and have helped validate Michigan Department of Transportation 802.11 wireless infrastructure deployments," said Larry Osentoski, MTS' Advanced Systems Director. "The integration of Quatech's 802.11 wireless device server module enabled our Wireless ePULSE solution to collect data in real-time as vehicles passed by roadside wireless access points. Having a reliable wireless module allowed our team to focus on optimizing wireless connectivity algorithms and developing applications for real-time traffic congestion measurement, recording historical traffic patterns, assessing road driving conditions and monitoring the overall health of the wireless network."

"As a leading supplier to the transportation industry, Quatech is pleased our 802.11 wireless technology performed so well for MTS Technologies," said Steve Runkel, CEO of Quatech. "We're confident that this collaboration will provide vehicle manufacturers with robust DSRC functionality at the 5.9GHz band and enable their successful participation in the U.S. DOT's VII pilot program."

The Wireless ePULSE solution combines a ruggedized telematics control unit with sophisticated backend data management applications for vehicle manufacturers. The Wireless ePULSE capability includes mobile monitoring, data collection, location tracking and backend data management and enables a real-time view into a particular fleet, region or individual vehicle operation.

Quatech supplies its hardened line of Airborne(TM) 802.11 wireless modules to leading OEMs in the transportation, heavy equipment, M2M and defense industries. The Airborne product line features industrial grade design (extended operating temperatures and environmental specifications), advanced security standards, compact form factor, low power modes and a five year warranty.
