LoJack Licensee Ready for Operation on New Providence Island, Bahamas

LoJack Stolen Vehicle Recovery System to Offer Residents of Nassau Powerful Vehicle Theft Protection Solution

WESTWOOD, Mass., June 13 -- LoJack Corporation today announced that its licensee, Intelligent Security Devices International, is operational on New Providence Island in the Bahamas. Residents of Nassau will soon have the LoJack Stolen Vehicle Recovery Systems available in the area. The LoJack system is a time-tested radio frequency based theft protection solution that will be directly integrated into the island's law enforcement agencies that leverage the system to track and recover LoJack-equipped vehicles when they are reported stolen. The implementation of LoJack was announced officially at a press conference attended by the Deputy Prime Minister and the Commissioner of the Royal Bahamian Police Force among other dignitaries.

"Although only a small region, The Bahamas represents another step in our global expansion, under our original licensee model," said LoJack Chairman and CEO Joseph Abely. "We are pleased to add The Bahamas to the growing list of countries whose citizens can rest a little easier knowing that LoJack's Stolen Vehicle Recovery Systems soon will be available in the area."

Mr. Abely said, "Over the past five years, The Bahamas has averaged more than 650 stolen cars per year costing citizens close to $7 million annually. The government both recognizes the severity of the problem for its citizens and has been instrumental in bringing the LoJack System to the island."

How LoJack Works

The LoJack Stolen Vehicle Recovery System includes a small wireless radio- frequency transceiver that is hidden in a vehicle in one of 20 possible locations. Once the vehicle is reported stolen to the police, state law enforcement computers match the vehicle identification number to the LoJack system. After the match, the LoJack system is automatically activated, emitting silent radio signals from the small radio transceiver. Law enforcement vehicles with LoJack technology follow these signals, which lead to the stolen vehicle.

The better than 90 percent recovery rate for cars and trucks equipped with LoJack has translated over nearly 20 years into more than $1.5 billion in recovered assets in the United States.

LoJack Availability

LoJack products will be available at participating automobile dealerships in the Bahamas. Both the base LoJack Stolen Vehicle Recovery System and the LoJack Early Warning System, which is combined with the base system and automatically notifies consumers if their vehicle is moved without permission, will be offered.
