60TH USAC RACE IN UTAH SET FOR JUNE 24

WYSONG EXTENDS RMR STREAK TO 4-IN-A-ROW!

The USAC/SLVRA Young Automotive Rocky Mountain Sprint Car Series will continue June 24 at Rocky Mountain Raceways and drivers will continue to try to unseat Jimmy Wysong from the victory lane ceremonies. A 40-lap feature will be on tap at the 3/8-mile paved oval, the 60th USAC event held in the state of Utah.

Wysong tied the record of 12 USAC wins in the state held by Dave Fitzgerald with his 40-lap victory at RMR Saturday night. The win was his fourth in a row in the series and ninth in his last 12 starts!

Wysong could join an elite list of drivers with a June 24 win. Only three drivers in USAC history have managed to win five straight Sprint races in a single series. Larry Dickson won six in a row in the 1968 National series, Parnelli Jones won five in a row in 1961 and Don Branson won five straight in the 1959 Midwest Sprint slate.

Fitzgerald, who has won nine supermodified races and three sprints in the state, finished second to Wysong Saturday and was followed by Jim Waters, Jeff Bergener and Paul Marconi. Bergener led the first 16 laps and Wysong led the rest.
