NEWMAN, LEFFLER TO RUN THIS WEEK'S "WEDNESDAY NIGHT THUNDER" AT SOUTH BEND

INDIANAPOLIS – Former USAC champions and current NASCAR Nextel Cup Series
stars Ryan Newman and Jason Leffler will participate in “Ryan Newman Night”
in this week’s “Wednesday Night Thunder” at South Bend Motor Speedway in
north central Indiana for the USAC Regional, Midwest and Indiana Ford Focus
and Kenyon Midget Car Series.

Newman, a native of South Bend, will participate in a Keith Kunz mount in
the Regional Midgets after meeting with 750 of his Fan Club members at the
track. Leffler is also slated to compete in his own Midget.

Newman won the 1999 USAC Silver Crown Series championship after gaining
experience in the Midgets. He is currently 18th in NASCAR Nextel Cup points.

Leffler, a three-time National Midget Car Series titlist, earlier this
season formed a Midget team in which he has already competed in at Concord
Motorsport Park in North Carolina. Bud Kaeding, a team partner in Leffler’s
Silver Crown team, won the “Knoxville Midget Nationals” June 4 at Knoxville
Raceway in Iowa in Leffler's Midget.

Scott Thoman of Indianapolis currently leads the Regional Midget Car Series
points by 41 points heading into the event. James Robertson leads the
Indiana Ford Focus points and Chris Windom leads the Kenyon Midget standings
respectively after their victories last Wednesday at Mt. Lawn Speedway in
New Castle, Ind.

Noblesville, Ind. native Bryan Clauson won Wednesday’s Regional race at Mt.
Lawn.
