MARTZ HOPES TO CONTINUE MIDWEST FOCUS SUCCESS THIS WEEK; NOBLITT WINS AT GAS
CITY FRIDAY
INDIANAPOLIS – A slue of events for Midwest Ford Focus Midget Car Series
participants is up for this week, and two-time series champion Tate Martz
plans to be among those challenging for wins in both the Pavement and Dirt
divisions.
Martz’s first opportunity comes Wednesday at South Bend Motor Speedway in
north central Indiana, as the Midwest Pavement and Indiana Focus drivers
team up for a show sporting points to both series. Martz swept races at the
quarter-mile track in 2003.
The Midwest Pavement series will then make its series debut Friday at
Madison (Wis.) International Speedway, while Dirt participants will make
their way Sunday to the Badger State for a date with Angell Park Speedway in
Sun Prairie. Martz has also reached Victory Lane at Angell Park.
While Martz enters South Bend as the Pavement point leader, the same can’t
be said for the Dirt division, as Columbus, Ind. native and current Dirt
point leader Jordan Noblitt won the season opener for the series. He took
the lead from Robbie Ray on Lap 25 of 30, then put the No. 20 Noblitt
Motorsports machine in Victory Lane. Trailing were Ray, Martz, Chett Gehrke
and Jimmy Light.
Early leader Nick Daugherty flipped on Lap 6 but was uninjured.
