MIDGET POINT BATTLE PART OF TRACY'S "TRIPLEHEADER"
RAHE LANDS 2ND USAC VICTORY AT VENTURA
Defending USAC Western Midget Champion Jerome Rodela of El Monte, Calif. is back atop the series standings after his third-place finish in last Saturday night's race at Ventura, Calif. He holds an 11-point lead over Tyler Brown going into this Saturday's USAC "tripleheader" racing program at Altamont Motorsports Park in Tracy, Calif.
This Saturday's tripleheader also features the USAC/CASA "Best of the West" Sprint Cars and California Pavement Ford Focus Midgets. The Midget main event is set for 30 laps on Tracy's 1/2-mile oval.
Tony Hunt, who leads the USAC and CASA Sprint Car standings, won the May 13 USAC Midget outing at Tracy but is not among the "top-10" in series standings. He's one of seven different race winners in nine 2006 USAC Western Midget events.
Chris Rahe of Placentia, Calif., who won Saturday night's Ventura feature, ranks fourth in the new points after his second feature win of the year. Garrett Hansen, who finished fifth at Ventura and is third in the new points, is the only other driver to repeat as a winner in 2006. Greg Bragg, Rodela and Robby Flock, who owns 51 career victories in the series, rounded out the "top-four" at Ventura. Bragg ranks fifth in the new standings and led the first eight laps of the Ventura feature.
