TC Motorsports; Odell Collect 30th In Nashville

LEBANON, Tenn. (June 12, 2006) - - Saturday’s Federated Auto Parts 300 from
Nashville Superspeedway saw TC Motorsports with rookie driver David Odell
make their second NASCAR Busch Series start of the 2006.
With the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series competing at Pocono International Raceway,
several NNC team opted to leave their Busch cars in the garage leaving one
of the smallest entry lists for the 2006 season. However, with 46 cars
unloading at the 1.333-mile Speedway and not guaranteed into the starting grid based
on points, the pressure was on to perform.
During the first practice session, TC Motorsports wanted to get a
comfortable race car underneath their ARCA driver turned NASCAR star. Throughout
practice, the team worked on the handling of the No. 07 Chevrolet Monte Carlo.
When all was done, the team was 35th on the charts, posting a time of 30.611
seconds at 156.767 MPH. The team outran several highly funded teams including
Robert Yates Racing (No. 90 Ford Fusion and Roush Racing (No. 60 Ford Fusion).

“The first practice was okay,?? said Odell. “We’re looking a lot better
than the spring race and that’s a positive note. We’re going to see if we can’
t improve on our car in the second session and let it all hang out in
qualifying.??
In the final session leading up to qualifying, the team opted to work on
their qualifying setup. The team didn’t fair as well as they wanted to in
practice only turning the 44th fastest lap. “We’re not happy with what the
practice results showed, but there is nothing we can do about it. We’ll just put
the best setup we can and go for it in qualifying.??
In time trials, Odell made his way into the starting grid. Looking to bounce
back from the disappointment in the second practice session, Odell
maneuvered the track in 30.628 seconds at 156.680 MPH good enough for 39th. Even
though the team wasn’t starting where they wanted to, they made the field.
Though never being a factor during the Federated Auto Parts 300, Odell used
the race as a testing session in the NASCAR Busch Series. He battled with his
competitors, learned even further more about the tricks and trades of
Nashville Superspeedway and also learned in-depth the unique challenges a Busch car
presents.
Throughout the night, Odell gained nine spots from his starting position to
claim 30th completing 219 of the scheduled 225 laps.
“All in all, it’s a satisfying finish,?? explained Odell, a well-known late
model driver for the Lawrenceville, Georgia area. “We finished 25th in the
spring and 30th this weekend. We didn’t wreck the car and we’re going to be
able to use it again. I just want to thank everyone at TC Motorsports for
all their hard work this weekend; we’re reaching for better results all around
next weekend at Kentucky.??
The Meijer 300 is the next venue for the NASCAR Busch Series and next stop
for TC Motorsports. Odell will look to make his third start of the NBS season
and first start at the 1.5-mile speedway.
TC Motorsports is still actively seeking sponsorship for this weekend’s race
at Kentucky Speedway interested parties are urged to contact the team
directly at 678-776-2715 or 770-554-0491.
