Herta Drives XM Car To 11th at Texas Motor Speedway
FORT WORTH, Texas (June 10, 2006) - XM Satellite Radio driver Bryan Herta drove from the rear
of the field into the top 10 early on Saturday at Texas Motor Speedway before ending the night with an 11th
place result in the Bombardier Learjet 500k.
Herta, who was forced to start from the 18th position as a result of an engine change on Friday,
methodically worked his way to the eighth position before the midway point of the 200-lap race, taking
advantage of restarts on laps 69 and 79. But, with the race staying under green-flag conditions for the final
121 laps, Herta found it difficult to maintain his spot among the contenders and dropped out of the top 10 and
eventually a lap down before the end of the 200-lap event.
Helio Castroneves extended his lead in the IndyCar Series standings by grabbing his third win of the
2006 season. He was followed across the line by Scott Dixon, Dan Wheldon, Sam Hornish Jr. and Scott
Sharp.
Following a weekend off, the IndyCar Series schedule resumes from Richmond International
Raceway on Saturday, June 24. The SunTrust Indy Challenge presented by XM Satellite Radio will air live
on ESPN2 at 8 p.m. (EDT). All IndyCar Series races can also be heard live by XM Satellite Radio
subscribers on XM channel 145, the official home of the IndyCar Series.
Bryan Herta, #7 XM Satellite Radio Dallara/Honda/Firestone:
"I had a good start and restarts, but once things settled in some of those guys that were faster just
drove around me. We just didn't have the speed of those top couple cars. That was about it. I was running
around there wide open. I was begging her on for all she's was worth, but that's as fast as I could go."
George Klotz, Team Manager, #7 XM Satellite Radio Dallara/Honda/Firestone:
"I think we pretty much got everything we could out of the XM car tonight. I think we're on to
something that can make the car better. We made an aggressive move before the race to try something
different. That's the bright side of tonight. Believe me, we're not happy with 11th, but we think we may be on
to something. We're trying to think out of the box a little bit and try to get us out of the rut we're currently in."
