Anderson qualifies No. 5 at Route 66 Raceway

JOLIET, Ill. (June 10, 2006) – Route 66 Raceway continued to prove that
it is one of the quickest and fastest tracks on the NHRA POWERade Drag
Racing Series. The Pro Stock class continued to “strut their stuff,”
posting the second quickest time in the NHRA record books during
qualifying. But rain has been the most talked about subject this weekend.

Persistent rain has been the only winner during qualifying for the NHRA
CARQUEST Auto Parts Nationals. After three qualifying sessions, NHRA
made a decision to cancel the final qualifying session for all
professional classes.

When qualifying ended today setting the field for tomorrow’s
eliminations for the NHRA CARQUEST Auto Parts Nationals, Greg Anderson,
the current national elapsed time record holder and driver of the KB
Racing LLC-owned, Summit Racing Equipment-backed Pro Stock Pontiac GTO,
held the No. 5 position on the qualifying ladder.

In a surprise to many, Richie Stevens, Jr. took top honors running
within .002 seconds of Anderson’s national elapsed time record of 6.633
seconds set in Gainesville, Fla., in 2005.

In the opening round of tomorrow’s eliminations, Anderson will face
Warren Johnson, who qualified No. 12 with a run of 6.685 seconds.
Anderson worked for WJ for 12 years as a crew member, tuner and crew
chief during four of Johnson’s six NHRA Pro Stock championships, before
becoming a three-time Pro Stock champion himself.

Anderson, who has had 40 national wins in 60 final rounds during his
career, has just three national event final rounds and no wins in all
his visits to Route 66 Raceway. It is one of two tracks on the 2006 NHRA
POWERade Drag Racing Series schedule that Anderson has not posted a win,
the other being Richmond’s Virginia Motorsports Park. A win tomorrow at
Route 66 Raceway would reduce that to just one track, with Richmond
still remaining this season.

Anderson, driver of the KB Racing LLC/Summit Racing Equipment Pro Stock
Pontiac GTO, begins his quest for the CARQUEST Auto Parts Nationals Pro
Stock title on Sunday, June 11, with eliminations for all classes
beginning at 11 a.m. *All times are local Chicago time (CT) and subject
to change at anytime. *

ESPN2 will air same-day television coverage of eliminations for the NHRA
CARQUEST Auto Parts Nationals from 5-7 p.m. tomorrow, Sunday, June 11.
The elimination show repeats early Wednesday morning (June 14) from 3-5
a.m. Also, tune in to NHRA2Day on ESPN2, the weekly show that gives you
the latest information about the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series.
NHRA2Day can be seen on Sunday morning, June 11, from 11:30 a.m. - 12
noon. *Television times are Eastern Time (ET) and subject to change at
anytime. Check local listings.*
