Trace Laboratories, Inc. Announces Its New SLA and Rapid Prototyping Service Group - QuickPrototyping

PALATINE, Ill.--June 8, 2006--Trace Laboratories, Inc. announces its new Stereolithography (SLA) and Rapid Prototyping service group, QuickPrototyping. The QuickPrototyping group will manage and facilitate all SLA and Rapid Prototype functions formerly offered through Trace. The group and its new website, www.quickprototyping.com, were introduced at the recent Rapid Prototyping and Manufacturing Expo in St. Charles, IL.

Using its 3D Systems Stereolithography machine or its FDM equipment, QuickPrototyping can provide prototype parts to its customers - in many cases within just a couple of hours. Parts can be produced in standard resolution for quicker turnaround, or in high resolution for extremely fine detail. Smaller sized designs can allow for simultaneous production of multiple pieces.

QuickPrototyping uses material that creates rugged parts that mimic production-level components and that have mechanical properties similar to polypropylene. The parts are suitable for mechanical testing and use in a wide range of applications. The standard finish of the parts includes support removal, sanding and glass bead blasting for a smooth surface. The natural finish is opaque, but a clear finish is also available. SLA parts can be painted or dyed in an array of colors and finishes without changing the overall size of the part.

In order to create the part prototype, QuickPrototyping needs only an STL, STP, or AutoCAD format file. If a 3D CAD platform is not available, QuickPrototyping has the necessary tools, and the resident mechanical engineering and CAD expertise to design, consult, or assist in the creation of the needed file.

Pricing and turnaround vary based on product size, design, and materials.
